IN OUR CURRENT PLAN, WE ARE ABLE TO HIRE UNDER OUR DOI PLAN, RECENT EDUCATION GRADUATES FROM UNIVERSITIES, TEACHERS WHO ARE CERTIFIED IN ANOTHER STATE, INDIVIDUALS WITH CONTENT DEGREES THAT ARE RELATED TO THE SUBJECT THAT THEY WILL BE TEACHING, AND INDIVIDUALS WITH CAREER AND TECHNOLOGY EXPERIENCE. AGAIN, THESE EXEMPTIONS ALLOW US TO STAFF OUR CLASSROOMS WHILE THESE INDIVIDUALS WORK TO EARN THEIR CERTIFICATION WITHIN A YEAR OF HIGHER. THIS TYPE OF STAFFING AND CERTIFICATION EXEMPTING IS COMMON IN MANY DISTRICTS AROUND THE AREA. AGAIN, BY ALLOWING THIS EXEMPTION TO CONTINUE IN THE NEXT DOI PLAN, IT WILL ALLOW THE DISTRICT TO REMAIN COMPETITIVE WITH LOCAL AREA DISTRICTS WHEN WE HIRE. JUST TO SHARE A COUPLE OF NUMBERS, OUR CURRENT DOI PLAN INCLUDES 15 TEACHERS IN ELEMENTARY WHO ARE DOI AND 19 AND SECONDARY FOR A TOTAL OF 34 TEACHERS. WITHOUT THESE EXEMPTIONS, WE WOULD BE SHORT AN ADDITIONAL 34 TEACHERS IN TERMS OF STAFFING. OUR HUMAN RESOURCES OFFICE, OUR HUMAN RESOURCES SPECIALISTS DO A GREAT JOB OF KEEPING IN TOUCH WITH THESE INDIVIDUALS THAT WE DO HIRE UNDER DOI. WE SCHEDULED THREE MEETINGS WITH THEM THROUGHOUT THE YEAR TO CHECK ON THEIR PROGRESS, SEE WHERE THEY'RE AT, AND ENSURE THAT THEY'RE ON TRACK TO RECEIVE THAT CERTIFICATION WITHIN THE YEAR THAT THEY'RE HIRED. THE NEXT EXEMPTION IS OUR GRIEVANCE POLICY AND THIS WILL BE A NEW ADDITION TO THE DOI PLAN. AS DR. KANTU STATED, THE 89TH LEGISLATOR DID UPDATE THE GRIEVANCE POLICIES. SENATE BILL 12 REQUIRING DISTRICTS TO ADOPT NEW GRIEVANCE POLICIES IN TERMS OF VARIOUS PROCEDURES AND TIMELINES, AND WE'RE ASKING TO BE EXEMPT FROM THESE NEW TIMELINES. EXCUSE ME, AND CONTINUE OUR ESTABLISHED PROCESSES IN ORDER TO BE ABLE TO RESPOND TO OUR EMPLOYEES AND PARENTS IN AN ORDERLY AND TIMELY MANNER. REALLY, WE WANT TO BE ABLE TO RESOLVE THE ISSUES THAT OUR EMPLOYEES AND OUR PARENTS BRING TO US AS QUICKLY AS POSSIBLE SO THAT WE DON'T DRAG OUT THE PROCESS, WHICH I'LL SHOW YOU IN A MOMENT IS WHAT WILL HAPPEN WITH THE SUGGESTIONS FROM THE 89TH LEGISLATOR. WHICH MAY POSE A PROBLEM WHEN WE THINK ABOUT THE ABILITY TO ACCESS CERTAIN DATA OR CERTAIN INFORMATION. FOR EXAMPLE, VIDEO FOOTAGE. IT'S NOT IN OUR SYSTEM, SO OUR LIBRARIANS CAN'T PURCHASE IT. THEY DID PUT IT IN. IT IS POSTED ON OUR WEBSITE AS OF TODAY FOR 30 DAYS FOR PUBLIC COMMENT.
